Mlambe Foundation aims to contribute to the conservation of cultural heritage in Malawi and to promote cultural and economic sustainable development in the country inspired by Malawi's rich traditions and past. The Foundation seeks to achieve these aims by:

- Education and research with regard to tangible and intangible cultural heritage in Malawi
- Supporting and initiating projects concerning aspects of Malawian cultural heritage, not excluding any ethnic group or historical period.
- Supporting activities that lead to greater publicity and awareness of Malawian cultural heritage, and thus its conservation.
- Lobbying for conservation measures with the Malawi government.
- Promoting rural poverty reduction by sustainable, community-based cultural resource management

Mlambe Foundation thus advocates the power of culture as formulated in Dutch and international developmental aid policy. Likewise, it subscribes to the 8 reasons for (financial) support for art and culture in developing countries. We may add that cultural heritage that is not preserved now, will be lost forever.
